A plan forged with love.
During their vacation in Bonaire, Emiel wanted to create an unforgettable moment: a marriage proposal during sunset on a secluded beach of Bonaire. But like with any good plan, it required some preparation. Especially for the occasion, he rented a golf cart so they could drive to this remote beach, ensuring that this special intimate moment would be just the two of them, without other beachgoers nearby.
To make the proposal even more personal, Emiel came up with a number of unique details. Instead of rings, which they don’t wear due to their work, he chose a bracelet. He also made sure to print out photos of their most beautiful, fun, and quirky moments together, which were prominently featured in the romantic set-up.
The preparations.
On the way to the secluded beach, I picked up Emiel’s iPhone, along with the photos and bracelet, from the resort reception to take pictures of the special moment. Upon arriving at the beach, I set up the entire scene: a decorated gazebo on the sand and a bottle of bubbles chilled in a wine cooler. With the added decorations and personal photos, the setup was complete. The scene was perfect; now, only the main characters remained.
The supreme moment.
Not long after, I saw the golf cart approaching in the distance. Emiel and Nick arrived at the beach, but Nick had no idea what awaited him. From the road, nothing of the setup was visible, and I remained discreetly in the background.
When Nick spotted the gazebo, everything went silent. His surprise quickly gave way to a huge smile as Emiel asked him if he wanted to become his husband. Without hesitation, the answer came: “Yes!”
Time for two.
After offering my congratulations, I handed Emiel his phone back and said my goodbyes, so they could continue to enjoy this special moment in peace. As the sun set into the Caribbean Sea, Emiel and Nick sat together on the beach, savoring the moment with a bottle of bubbles.
