The preparations for the perfect moment.
Arjan had already contacted me from The Netherlands. After an intense period, they had booked a vacation to Bonaire to relax and enjoy some time together. In addition, Arjan wanted to create an unforgettable romantic moment for both his girlfriend and himself.
The ring: an important responsibility.
One day before the proposal, I picked up the engagement ring because Arjan was worried she might notice him carrying a small square box in his pocket. It was a fun challenge, but also a big responsibility for me! I promised to guard the ring with my life!
The weather and the decision to go ahead.
On the day of the proposal, it unfortunately rained heavily in Bonaire. Around noon, I discussed with him whether we should postpone it to the next day. Luckily, I was flexible, as was the photographer we had hired. In the end, we decided to go ahead with the plan. As soon as I arrived at the location, the rain stopped, and later in the afternoon, the sun even came out. Personally, this was great for the setup as well!
The unforgettable proposal.
She thought they were just going to enjoy a quiet sunset together on a secluded beach. When they arrived and she saw everything set up, and then he dropped to one knee, she was completely surprised. Overwhelmed and in tears of joy, she happily said ‘yes’!
The moment of celebration.
A bottle of bubbles was chilling in an ice-filled wine cooler, ready to be opened. They toasted together while enjoying the beautiful sunset, sitting in the two chairs that had been set up just for them. After the sun had fully set, friends from Bonaire drove up. Together, they ended this romantic day with a lovely dinner.
A day full of love.
Although the rain initially poured down in buckets, the day ended literally and figuratively in sunshine, and full of love!
